Dennis Karlsson is the founder and creative director of MAEWKHOO, a Bangkok-based cult design studio specialising in nothing and exploring everything. Half Thai, half Swedish and raised between Bangkok, Seoul, Saigon and London, Dennis grew up moving between cultures rather than belonging neatly to one. That collision became the foundation of MAEWKHOO, a practice that moves freely between fashion, art, objects, music, architecture, subculture and way beyond.

His creative process is rooted in intuition. Dennis describes himself as an antenna for the collective creative consciousness, tuning in rather than forcing ideas, using meditation, instinct and an openness to the unknown to access ideas that feel as though they come from somewhere beyond the immediate world. Research, references and technique are important, but the final direction often comes from a less tangible place.

For Dennis, creativity is less about inventing something from nothing and more about being receptive enough to recognise an idea when it arrives. MAEWKHOO is the commercial vessel through which those ideas take form. A constantly evolving practice with no fixed discipline, hierarchy or destination.
